Five times BAFTA-winning comedy writer Graham Linehan is premiering his one-day comedy workshop in Melbourne. Titled Insights into the Art of TV Comedy Writing, it opens at the Wheeler Centre on Sunday June 17 and Monday June 18 before heading to Sydney’s Darlinghurst Theatre the following weekend. The workshops run from 10am until 4pm and include morning and afternoon tea.
Each workshop is a rare opportunity to learn from Linehan, a comedy maestro. There’s a limited number of tickets available so you’ll need to get in quick on Tuesday April 17 when tickets are released.
“Creativity is messy and demanding and confusing,” says Linehan. “Writing is fun and easy and impossible and awful. Figuring it all out is something I’ve been trying to do for the last 25 years and I’m hoping that I’ve gained enough insights into my own process that I won’t actually mess yours up too much. So, come and join me.”
The Irish comedic writer has worked on shows such as Father Ted, Big Train, Black Books, The IT Crowd, Count Arthur Strong, The Walshes and a stage performance The Ladykillers. These works have earnt him five BAFTAs, an Emmy Award and IFTA and two Writers Guild of Great Britain awards.
