Melbourne Zoo’s summer concert series Zoo Twilights is coming back in January. The concerts will run every weekend from January 25 to March 9 and will see both Australian and international musicians take stage in the zoo.

Leading this year’s list of artists is songwriter and producer Cat Power a.k.a. Chan Marshall. Returning to Australia for the first time since 2016, Marshall brings her tenth album – and 25-years in music marker – Wanderer. The album includes guest vocals from Lana Del Rey and a rendition of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’. Get excited to hear this new material as the sun sets over Melbourne Zoo.

Taste of Twilights will be set up neighbouring the performance area, as some of Melbourne’s best food trucks and pop-up bars appear within the Zoo so you can get the best brew and street food.

The most important part of the Zoo Twilights is the cause that started it all. All proceeds from ticket sales help Zoo Victoria fight wildlife extinction, in particular the Eastern Barred Bandicoot. This extremely shy and cute animal had been listed as extinct in the wild mainland of Australia, but following the last five years of Zoo Twilights and more than 25 years of recovery efforts, there are over 1200 bandicoots in existence.

Cat Power is just the first to be announced but is sure to be joined by other international acts and iconic Australian artists. Stay tuned, as the full line-up is announced on Wednesday October 24.

Zoo Twilights is an all ages event taking place on land belonging to the Wurundjeri people.
