Henry Rollins @ National Theatre

Henry Rollins is now 51-years-old, and while there may be no band behind him he has continued to tour the world with a microphone in hand. The term 'Spoken-word' may make you think of bad poetry recitals, but it is a more apt term than comedy for his approach. Rapidly firing off anecdotes – sometimes deviating in the middle of one to another, then resuming the first without missing a beat... Read More

Michael Workman - Mercy
0 Comments. 430 Views. Posted 20 Apr 2012 @ 12:25pm.
Mercy is a perfomance in many acts, and in the end challenges the concept of comedy itself. Michael Workman tells the story of a Cuban man who is taken away from his family and gets exiled in a boat, on the sea, with a pile of cabbages. Strange enough you may say, but the story is told in such a measured tone that it’s pretty difficult to not be enthralled with what is happening out in those... Read More

First off, the obligatory list of nouns that may be used to describe this person; musician, traveller, actor, spoken word artist, humanitarian, author and self confessed workaholic. I can only think of two people who fit this description, and this article does not feature William Shatner (although the two did collaborate on a track). Henry Rollins is definitely a unique human, and the... Read More

I feel like we have a lot of fantastic local releases to be excited about at the moment. Just as it seems that all our international acts have deserted us in the face of our brutal winter, it would appear local talent has come through with the goods. Firstly the new album from The Smith Street Band (Poison City),No One Gets Lost Anymore,is a corker and singer Wil Wagner seems to be... Read More

Agoria's fourth long player is a is a surprisingly low key exposition of smooth and deep Detroit styled tech house graced with subtle atmospheric orchestrations with light jazz accents. The album's opener Kiss My Soul is perhaps the best track on offer here, with Kid A's plaintive Bjork-esque vocals striking strong emotional chords while a rather delicate arrangement featuring piano and violin...
