Songwriter, producer or creative? A major networking night is coming soon

The Real Songwriters of Melbourne (RSOM) are hosting one of their highly-popular Networking Nights on September 13 - a night of career-building food, fun and conversation.

The Real Songwriters of Melbourne (RSOM) are an invaluable independent organisation that connect, aid and advocates for the city’s emerging musicians. They’re one of the Melbourne creative scene’s most valuable assets; living proof that what can be an isolating career choice, is actually an opportunity for a wealth of community.

RSOM have been hosting their Networking Nights for some time and the next chance to get involved is coming up on September 13. At Chapel Street’s famed Mexican restaurant Fonda, you’ll be able to connect with a diverse community of Melbourne songwriters, producers and creatives.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

You’ll be able to meet songwriters, vocalists and producers to write, perform and collaborate with, but just as excitingly, you’ll also hear from renowned Melbourne vocalist and singer-songwriter Kylie Auldist, who’s currently RSOM’s Industry Panel guest.

A woman who needs no introduction, Auldist is the leading lady of Aussie funk/soul band, The Bamboos and is the voice behind the 2016 hit song This Girl’ which has received over 1 billion streams and a nomination for the 2016 ARIA Song of the Year. Auldist will be joining RSOM Founder Jena Marino as she shares her story and how she rose to global success.

“Networking is one of the most important assets that a songwriter can have when building their songwriting career,” RSOM founder Jena Marino told us. “Many musicians constantly ask me for help with finding producers, vocalists, band members, gigs, support slots and the answer is simply to network! Many artists who have met at our Networking Nights have gone on to become, not only the greatest of friends, but some really great collaborations (and great songs) have been formed.

“Plus, we have had a fantastic range of special guests that have featured at our events over the years such as Suzi Yaghmoor, Simone Schinkel (Music Victoria), Emily Cheung (On The Map PR), Matt Tanner (Native Tongue Music Publishing) and more.

“Ultimately, our Networking Nights have been the perfect opportunity for many musicians to practice their pitch when talking to other artists, connect with other fantastic individuals in Victoria plus gain up and close with Australia’s leading music industry experts. If you are a musician who is looking to widen their skills, networks and opportunities, then come along and be a part of the RSOM Community!”

RSOM will also be joined by two teams highly relevant to Melbourne’s contemporary independent music scene. The first is Noisehive Music Distribution, which is a digital music distribution service that assists independent artists and labels looking to get their music onto online platforms. The second is mental health music education organisation, Hey Mate. They specifically deliver mental health, wellness support, and education to the music, entertainment, performing arts, and creative industries.

It’s a great opportunity for musicians of all levels to learn about two fantastic resources available to emerging artists in Melbourne. There will also be a private live stream, available to individuals who would prefer to tune in from home. Please note that the live stream will only include the Industry Panel and will commence at around 8:30pm.
