The popular online restaurant booking and review platform TheFork will close its operations down under by the end of March.
The Fork, the beloved restaurant booking platform, has decided to close its doors to Down Under diners. The news, delivered via email and prominently displayed on their website, has sent shockwaves through the culinary community.
Closing its operations in Australia at the end of March, the company revealed the decision to shutter the Australian arm of The Fork’s global operations was not taken lightly. The platform, previously known as Dimmi, pointed directly at the “significant impact the pandemic had on the global economy, particularly the hospitality industry.”

In a farewell email to its users, The Fork clarified that this closure is part of a broader “reduction of its geographical footprint.” However, the platform has ensured that it will continue facilitating restaurant bookings until the final curtain call on March 31, 2024.
So, if you’ve got loyalty points, fondly referred to as “yums,” you’ve got until the end of March to indulge your taste buds.
Dimmi, born in 2009 under the vision of Australian tech entrepreneur Stevan Premutico, underwent a transformation in 2015 when it was acquired by TripAdvisor. The rebranding as The Fork took place in 2019, cementing its status as a go-to platform for restaurant reservations.
However, The Fork, facing stiff competition from major players like Resy, Quandoo, and Opentable, appears to be closing the chapter for good.
As The Fork takes its final bow, customers are encouraged to redeem their loyalty points and make the most of their remaining bookings.
