Play a double-neck electric guitar inside the NGV because shredding is art

And while you won’t be able to get your dirty mitts on the NGV’s other major exhibitionEvery Brilliant Eye: Australian Art of the 1990s lets you pick up a double-neck guitar and play til your heart’s content.

The interactive work Player Guitar invites punters to sit down and have a strum, exploring the artist’s idea of the unknown.

It’s part of the wider exhibition that explores a decade of Australian art throughout the ’90s, offering an in-depth look at groundbreaking works that saw artists explore new technologies and mediums – birthing creative subcultures in the process.

But please. If anyone plays Stairway to Heaven on this thing, I’ll personally come down and dismantle the guitar myself and say it was performance art.

Edit: NGV, if you’re reading this, I would never actually do that and very much enjoy going to your gallery in a respectful manner befitting of an art school dropout such as myself.
