Phillip Island’s Ocean Sounds unveils Xavier Rudd, Spiderbait and more on 2024 lineup

Ocean Sounds
words by staff writer

Combine a relaxing seaside getaway with a family-friendly music festival and you've got Ocean Sounds.

Each year, the event takes over Churchill Island (Phillip Island’s little sibling) for a delightful event of community and tunes.

As the sun descends on January 6, guitar licks and mellow harmonies will echo out across the sea. Grab your lawn chairs, your best friends and your swimsuits, because this weekender is about as good as it gets.

Ocean Sounds 2024 Lineup

  • Xavier Rudd
  • Spiderbait

Activist, surfer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd is set to headline, bringing his unique blend of folk, blues and reggae to the beachside stage.

If you’re looking to leave the hustle of the big city behind and embrace some regional relaxation, his soulful voice and spiritual songwriting will be just what you need. Sing along to tracks like Follow The Sun, Spirit Bird and Storm Boy while taking a moment to reconnect with nature and reflect on the picturesque location.

Alongside him, the legendary Aussie rock group Spiderbait will have the crowd alight, jamming out to their high-energy classics including Black Betty and Calypso. With 25 years in the game, they’ve confidently etched themselves into Australian rock history.

Punters will also have the chance to skank along to the Melbourne Ska Orchestra, absorb the shimmering riffs of South American indie singer Felipe Baldomir and dance to tracks by the rising Melbourne psychedelic rock band Sunfruits.

Plus, what’s not to love about Phillip Island? Make a weekend out of it – spend a day snorkelling, sip some amazing local wine and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a few penguins.

General admission tickets to Ocean Sounds go on sale on August 31 at 8am. For early access, sign up here.
