Power pop quartet Babaganouj will hit the road this March for a string of dates in support of their new 7” single Too Late For Love.

The band's first EP Sife Lucks showcases everything from their mid-'70s radio rock influences to their penchant for unpretentious, lo-fi arrangements, with the video for Love Loathe Love You receiving widespread praise.

It’s been quite the year for hardcore punk rockers Clowns; they laid down their first long player I’m Not Right, went Australia wide for a frenetic seven week tour straight after, and along the way discovered they have a lot more fans than they did a year ago. They’re going to cap it all off with a New Years Eve gig at Old Bar which lead singer Stevie Williams tells me is going to be “fucking...

What’s in a name?  In the case of Perth band Thee Gold Blooms, quite a lot.  The band took its name from a latent fascination with American actor Jeff Goldblum; in fact, early in the band’s career, the Jeff Goldblum aspect threatened to become an overriding thematic focus. “It started out as a bit of a joke,” explains guitarist and singer Dylan Szymkow.  “At the beginning, the band was only...

Theirs is a fairly standard rock tale – doing what they love in spite of/or thanks to a host of highs (supporting the lies of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Mudhoney...

I can’t help imagining James Teague in primary school singing Advance Australia Fair in his wildly odd voice, with its weird pronunciations and insanely cool tremolo thing. “Sorry, the what tremolo thing?” he asks and then chuckles bashfully. It’s a rare moment of acknowledging praise by the young Perth folk/country/psych-rock artist, who is about to undertake a tour to promote his self-...

Western Australian ex-pat Mark Palazzolo (more widely recognised as Mark Zombo) has at last – after quietly toiling on his pieces for over 24 years – decided to formally throw his proverbial artist’s hat into Melbourne’s galactic art scene. A self-taught and almost secretive handicraftsman, Zombo has only now decided to let his art move out of the shadow of the music that has dominated his...
