Nic Cester : Sugar Rush

Yeah sure, he’s one of the most powerful voices in the Australian rock’n’roll scene, but with this album he’s set to take things up to another level.

For those fans of Jet that are expecting to hear ballsy guitar, yes you are granted your wish, however there is a hell of a lot of other instrumentation on display that makes Sugar Rush a highly enjoyable listen. It’s been a couple of years away from the limelight to craft this record and it has definitely paid dividends. The production is slick and Cester’s vocals sound bold and unforgiving throughout.

Psichebello’sounds like Tame Impala jamming on stage with the live experience that is the Carlos Santana band with Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull jumping up for a guest spot on his flute. With the Milano Elettrica backing him, Cester hits the mark with his solo debut. Soulful, groovy and like a fresh bag of hot jam donuts, Sugar Rush delivers again and again.
