1 Comments. 1,814 Views. Posted 12 Apr 2012 @ 3:51pm.
Due to overwhelming demand, an additional Melbourne date have been added for Sir David Attenborough – A Life on Earth. Arguably the world’s best-known natural history filmmaker, as well as the most unlikely sex symbol (or does that still remain to be George Calombaris?), Sir David will take audiences on an incredible journey through his extraordinary life, his untold stories, the evolution... The orb-weaver spider is well known in these parts; their beautifully woven spiral and wheel-shaped webs are a singular joy to behold (just as long as one doesn’t walk into them, in my opinion). The Orbweavers, on the other hand, are a lovely local band who do some fantastical weaving of their own. Their recently released second album Loom is a gently hypnotic work of country-tinged alt-folk with... Read More

This exhibition is set to have you looking at our country from a completely different perspective. The brainchild of now respected artist and climate change activist, Prue Acton, it sees six prominent Australian photographers capture images of our south eastern native forests which have been severely affected by logging. Ms Action describes the gallery as a reminder of how important... Read More

The Moral Meaning of Wilderness
0 Comments. 1,029 Views. Posted 16 Aug 2011 @ 4:01pm.
It's time to see nature through someone else's eyes. One of Australia's most distinguished artists, Juan Davila, is set to feature his recent work The Moral Meaning of Wilderness, expressing the genres of history painting and landscape at a time where the environment is as much a political consideration as it is a cultural one. Juan will use technical virtuosity as a means of allowing him... Read More

Jimmi Carr : Upstream

The first thing that stands out about Jimmi Carr's fourth album, Upstream, is the creatively symbolic cover art. Illustrator Scott Marr has beautifully depicted the struggle between nature and the destructive influences caused by man; a choking chimney, a leaking tap, an atom bomb in a tea cup. In the trend of artists such as Xavier Rudd, John Butler and Jack Johnson, just to name a... Read More
