This summer the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) is making an addition to their Sounds on the Terrace series by combining delicious craft beer with free live music. This special addition of craft beer is due to joining forces with Newtown-based brewers Young Henrys.

For each session this summer, curators Young Henrys will match the music to their favourite brews including their Aussie pale ale, natural lager, summer hop ale, cloudy cider and award-winning noble cut gin.

Young Henrys are no strangers to both Australian music and touring artists and know a bit about Sydney’s best bands. They have even listed the stereo as one of the most important pieces of brewing equipment. They’ve been known to listen to rock ‘n’ roll, electronica, indie rock, dance and punk. The brewers have worked with music and arts organisations too, appearing at events with Sydney Symphony, the Art Gallery of NSW and Oz Comic-Con.

The series will kick off on the MCA’s sculpture terrace with dreamy electronica from Matilda Abraham and ethereal vocals of E for Echo on Wednesday November 1, with three more evenings to come; Wednesday December 6, Wednesday January 10 and Wednesday February 7.

Since the Museum re-opened in 2012, Sounds on the Terrace has presented live music sessions and after-work drinks for the last five years. The Wednesday night program insures that attendees can admire the artwork too, as the gallery stays open for Lights on Later until 9pm.

The MCA invites music enthusiast to enjoy summer evenings and sights of Sydney’s Harbour from the Sculpture Terrace. Not to mention the MCA café which makes a tasty menu to make the view.
