“The wife’s moved out, and the mistress has moved in,” remarked a friend after the news a few years ago of Mick Harvey’s departure from the Bad Seeds, and the immediate artistic orbit of his school friend and long-time collaborator Nick Cave.   Harvey, despite his relatively enigmatic persona and long-standing association with Cave, has rarely been shy to explore his own artistic interests... Co-written by Mick Thomas, This Haunting is a jaunty rock song sung from the perspective of an elderly woman who feels haunted by the ghost of her dead husband. After the shock of David McComb's untimely death in 1999, just two weeks shy of his 37 thbirthday, Lee juggled his commitments with W.Minc. The third album is always the acid test, and Howling Bells latest effort, The Loudest Engine, is an intended further step away from their previous two. Described by the band as their "grown up" record, it moves further away from the raw, more rock 'n' roll, vibe of their earlier releases, towards a more abstract and psychedelic '70s thing. I feel like I'm sitting on a rug at Woodstock,... Read More

Howard, who passed away in 2009. Howard was the guitarist of iconic bands such as post-punks The Boys Next Door and The... Read More
