Name/Band:

“Indigo And The Bear.”

Define your genre in five words or less:

“Folk-alternative.”

How long have you been gigging and writing?

“We’ve been together since January 2011 and I’ve been writing since mid-2005.”

What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?

“We supported Polo Club at The Espy. The vibe was fantastic and the crowd had a heap of energy. It always makes a good gig when the crowd can get into your stuff.”

Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?

“I would love to have a folk showdown with Angus & Julia Stone: they are my favourite Aussie band at the moment!”

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?

“I love to write music about moments and unspecific feelings. I’d like to think each song carries a mood that people can draw their own interpretations from. I love to draw inspiration from books and movies as well; I find a good story will always inspire me.”

Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?

“We’ve just recorded and self-released our first EP titled Sorrow Down. You can grab it off our website at indigoandthebear.com.au as a free download for a limited time only.”

Why should everyone come and see your band?

“If you’re feeling like a quiet, wistful break from loud rock, we’ll serenade you with some calm and beautiful tunes. Hopefully we can transport you somewhere away from your busy day.”

INDIGO AND THE BEAR play the Melting Pot ‘Songwriters In The Round’ at Vibe On Smith St this Friday.
