Fear not, fans of fried starch and electro music, there is a new Hot Chip album in the works. When asked what food it most resembles, Al Doyle laughs: “Well, I think right now it would kind of be a dinner of sauces; it hasn’t got a lot of shape to it. Or sort of a jelly shape, because it’s still setting in the refrigerator. [But] we’re quite a way through; I’d say we’ve probably got about ten...

A surprise little treat in between albums, Dark & Stormy is typical Hot Chip fare – which is to say, pretty darn good. Carried by a big goofy bassline, the track features an even split in terms of vocal duties between Alexis and Joe. A sense of dread nullifies many of the danceable attributes and the band’s cheeky wit is gilded by a sardonic edge. Alexis’s possible double entendre of “I...

Hot Chip are the most prolific proponent of the electro crossover scene that began last decade. Their 2006 album The Warning is, for many, the most memorable moment of a scene that made of names like The Klaxons, The Bravery, Tom Vek and Hot Chip's now defunct DFA label mates LCD Soundsystem.

When I first heard that Hot Chip would be playing at The Palace I was very happy...

UK dance-pop sweethearts Hot Chip will be hitting the country over New Year's for the massive Falls Festival, and now Melbourne can expect some headline action.

This year saw the band release In Our Heads what many have called the best album of their career. Expect to hear choice cuts from that record as well as their impressive back catalogue of modern classics.

Following on from a pretty freakin' large first announcement, the stream of top shelf talent continues to join this year's Falls Music And Arts Festival.

The second announcement brings Bombay Bicycle Club, First Aid Kit, Hilltop Hoods, Hot Chip, Maximo Park,...

On a range of levels it is possible to look at making music as a cooking recipe. You have your chefs – the band – and then your core ingredients – the instruments. Musical acts have varying levels of difficulty in preparing their songs – for example, The White Stripes used minimal ingredients to produce something very satisfying (the comfort food of the music biz), whereas UK five-piece Hot...

The opening track to In Our Heads, the song Motion Sickness, has the momentous air of the music that would accompany, say, a highlights reel of Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee. There is a enormity and completeness to the sound of this song that acts as the perfect synopsis for Hot Chip’s most complete album to date.

The band’s fifth studio album In Our Heads heralds the London based...

Alexis Taylor trots out his customary new school Devo/pedo science teacher tones for the latest Hot Chip single, Night and Day. The sexier their electro disco beats, the more unsettling his voice becomes, and this is one sexy-ass Kraut disco tune. Taylor’s voice is all slithery, dreamy and calm, verging on creepsville. All very effective. The new Hot Chip album, In Our Heads, is out...
