Adnan Syed — the subject of the celebrated Serial podcast — will find himself under scrutiny once more with a newly announced HBO docuseries, The Case Against Adnan Syed.
The series has been in production since 2015, and reportedly re-examines evidence in a new light.
Amy Berg — the filmmaker in charge of the series — was granted access to law enforcement officials, Adnan Syed’s defence team, Syed’s family, and Syed himself.
Syed is currently awaiting a retrial for the murder of his ex-girlfriend in 1999. Meanwhile, the series promises “groundbreaking revelations that challenge the state’s case.”
