Band names can be funny things, and the way bands come up with them can be just as curious. Sometimes they just appear and everyone in the band agrees (although it's safe to assume this is pretty rare.) I have loved REM for years without ever managing to see them live, so this swan song single is unexpectedly poignant. I know the kids don't care, and they don't really fit on commercial radio anymore, but they still write lovely songs. For all its adult contemporary feel and Bacharach-style string arrangements, We All Go Back to Where We Belong is still bittersweet and affecting. Read More
