Upon doing research for my upcoming interview with Florida pop punk veterans New Found Glory, the thing that struck me the most was discovering that the band has the same lineup now as when they first burst onto the scene way back in 1997. Considering the number of personnel changes that most bands have to endure during their existence, it certainly is an incredible feat and its one...

With their debut Burn, Melburnians The Vendettas have released a ten -song all-guns-blazing barroom-brawl of an album. Beer-soaked and sweaty, the whole thing reeks of a good time. High octane alcohol fuelled riffs, addictively catchy melodies and fist pumping rhythms combine to create a solid and exciting effort that will have any fans of countrymen AC/DC and Airbourne or Swedes The...

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?

The band is called Young Maverick, my name is Will, and I play Drums.

What do you think people will say you sound like?

We get some Vampire Weekend references, but I don’t really see that too much. We’ve branded our style as ‘Holiday Pop’, so hopefully that catches on.

What is “...

After popping a little sampler CD in the post to various big-name labels for shits and giggles, he found his little tune Nards immediately snatched up by the musical brainchild of Jerome Derradji, Still Music – and named one of the best songs to be released that year by DJs including Gilles Peterson, signaling the beginning of something big for the man known as Trus’me.

It's focus that set HTRK apart. Slow paced and with an overall icy atmosphere of lust and desperation, new album Work (work, work), their follow up to their debut LP Marry Me Tonight, displays a clarity of vision that is coming to define their practice. The entire album rooted in the theme of desires, realised or denied, the now two piece have delivered a work that walks their carefully drawn...

Stand Right Up is the first single from local act King Cannon’s forthcoming debut record, due out next year. It’s clean as a whistle, this tune, from its peppy bongo beat to its understated call and response chorus. It twangs, it twists and generally has a good time, without risk of offending anyone’s grandmother. I am, for some reason, reminded of Footloose by Kenny Loggins.

Musically, Joakim Bouaziz is a hard one to pigeonhole. Brought up on classical, including piano from the age of six and graduating from the National Conservatory of Versailles, the producer is now one of the most influential people in the French scene, crossing genre borders including everything from jazz, noise, krautrock, electro, disco, techno and anything else you can possibly think of....

" The art of not giving a shit is so important, once you master that everything is cream cheese." These are the words of wisdom from Thunderstag main man and Wrestlerock founder Julian 'J-Large' James on the eve of his band's debut gig and album launch. And you better believe he means that anything goes, because these 'glama-billy' Melbourne madmen cite influences as far and wide as Elvis to...

Seth Troxler hates himself. And his biography captures it brilliantly - whether he is DJing in LA, Berlin, or Buenos Aires, his evening usually ends in a corner somewhere, his head in his hands, his hands running through his hair, his eyes staring at the ground and his conceptually-rich mind wondering why all of us, not just those in the world of house and techno, don't see it: his...

Some of you might have caught wind of Hernan Cattaneo’s heading down to Australia to play at Perth’s well-loved Big City Nights parties – and we’ve just heard that the rest of the country will get to share in the love.

From Buenos Aires, Cattaneo brings a masterful touch and an ear for an eclectic mix-up of beats ranging from progressive, deep and tribal house to breaks,...
