This formidable debut is as picturesque as the moment you decided to shelf your first pill, swig the remaining dregs from last week's goon bag, tonsil slap your best friends younger sister and donkey punch your way into the mosh pit. So, in layman's terms, Infernal Cakewalk is one fuck-off debut! Mesa Cosa are six suburban rat bags thrown into a city of unknowns, living in (no doubt)...

Jason Biggs and Seann William-Scott: most of you know them as the guys who sexually-assaulted a pie and unknowingly drank jizz in some of the most memorable scenes in Hollywood history, and they’re back for the fourth chapter in perhaps the most quoted and sentimental film franchise amongst teenagers in the late ‘90s/early ‘00s – American Pie. We sit down with the boys in an inappropriately...

Four years has been the biggest gap between Lambchop albums, but when Kurt Wagner’s gruff, gentle vocal cuts in with the lyric ‘Don't know what the fuck they talk about’ on the new album’s opening song If Not I’ll Just Die, it’s as if they’d never been away. And just like that particular lyric, Wagner hasn’t paid any mind to what has been happening outside...

So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band?
The band’s name is The Philistines, my name is Chris, and I play guitar and sometimes throw things.

Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?
Garage-Punk with a twist of wasted.

What do you love about making music?

Releasing your first record as a band has always been a thrilling and nerve-wracking procedure. Yet in comparison to 20 or 30 years ago, releasing a record in 2012 can be even more of a drawn out procedure. With the internet now involved, a buzz must be created online before the actual record is released. And it’s that divide between the virtual and the physical which is getting to Sean...

If you listen to Leonard Cohen too young you can seriously fuck up your life. I spent much of my adolescence listening to his records with an intensity that bordered on reverence, scouring his lyrics for the wisdom swathed in metaphor and symbolism for clues on how to deal with my raging heart. It gave me a lifelong appreciation for wordsmiths and lyricists, and must have made me very boring...

Let me take this opportunity to say that three sold out Vengaboys gigs at the Corner represents nothing short of Armageddon, a world in wholesale decay, imploding in a stew of putrescent, fluoro-shaded intestinal bile. What the fuck is wrong with you people? Seriously? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? I'm not kidding. Stop laughing.

“If I’m wrong, I’ll only let two chicks suck my dick instead of the normal 5. That’s how serious I am. Just wait. I ain’t wrong.” It’s the tweet which sparked one of the biggest local music stories of the year. Steel Panther drummer Stix Zadinia broke the news that the Van Halen-headlined Soundwave Revolution was no more, meaning Steel Panther would not be hitting our shores as planned....

Man, Mastodon's Crack The Skye is a hard album to top. Heavy, progressive, psychedelic, multilayered, complex – any concept album that knits together such disparate elements as Rasputin and astral travel has gotta be followed up by something pretty big. Just like Crack The Skye, The Hunter (Roadrunner) finds Mastodon doing what they do best – combining lyrical and musical creativity – yet the...

Support slots are a funny thing. Within the space of two months, I saw Jay-Z and Fucked Up perform as guests for U2 and The Bronx respectively. Both sets were incredible in their respective sense. But the label of support comes loaded with an impedance of context, one which wouldn't materialise in the festival setting, for instance. Lucky for us, Fucked Up have graced us with their presence...
