Elana Stone

Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Elana Stone is an ARIA Award-winning musician whose style combines instrumental invention with quirk, and inclines to write pop that is by turns exultant or introspective. Elana Stone encompasses folk, modern electronica, indie pop and balladry, underpinned by Stone’s signature lyrical vulnerability and ear for melody.

Elana has released three studio albums of solo material ‘In The Garden of Wild Things’ (2006), ‘Your Anniversary’ (2009) and ‘Kintsugi’ (2015). Elana is also a member of the award-winning folk and alt country act ‘All Our Exes Live In Texas’, who have toured the USA, UK and Europe extensively. All Our Exes Live in Texas have opened for The Backstreet Boys (USA), Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats (USA) and Australian icons Midnight Oil.

Elana is also an ongoing member of Missy Higgins’ live band, and has toured the world as a singer/pianist/accordion player/percussionist with the John Butler trio as well as opening for John Butler across Europe in 2022.

She has recorded, performed and toured alongside Josh Pyke Hermitude, Megan Washington, Kate Miller Heidke, Jackson Jackson, Ngaiire, Passenger, Donny Benet, Bluejuice, Brian Campeau and performed in an original musical with melbourne comedy troupe Tripod.

Her latest single ‘Oregon’ is the most joyful to date. For her upcoming solo album she has enlisted the incredible Butternut Sweetheart (Luke Moseley) as bandmate and co-producer as well as Josh Pyke, Tony Buchen and Justin Stanley in various co-writing and co-production roles.

Elana’s new songs venture into a wide range of themes such as finding love, motherhood against the backdrop of a worldwide pandemic, climate change, social/political polarisation, friendship, love, loss and lockdown – all served on a crispy bed of synth pop, hazy guitar and to-die-for vocal harmonies with a side of 70’s drums and in your face, fuzz bass.

Elana will be joined by Butternut Sweetheart:

“Pulled me in, sucked me under and then I floated away with it” – Richard Kingsmill

Butternut Sweetheart is the music of Melbourne based producer and multi instrumentalist, Luke Moseley, who describes the project as ‘post apocalyptic underwater indie’. Butternut Sweethearted is inspired by the likes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Tune-Yards, and Melody’s Echo Chamber. Year one of Butternut Sweetheart featured a total of 35 shows including two headline tours and a national support for Ball Park Music.

Butternut Sweetheart’s Debut EP, ‘Concrete Solid Lung’, presents five tracks of unique and beautifully produced indie music. ‘Bury Me’, track one, has been heard on triple j, Double J, fbi and Triple R. Floating in the musical realm between Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Radiohead, Butternut Sweetheart weaves intricately written melodies with catchy hooks and beats.

Butternut Sweetheart’s latest single, ‘If The World Wasn’t Round’, was released in October of 2020, with Declan Byrne of Triple J stating that ‘new butternut sweetheart reels you in with that moving push pull and lush production and it’s a swirling ride that i had to go in on a few times in a row’.
