First off the block will be Parvyn Singh (The Bombay Royale) and Hue Blanes as they unveil their debut LP I Choose You to the world. Intertwining their eclectic mix of musical and cultural lineages, the album presents a modern twist on the romantic jazz duets of the ’30s and ’40s.
The Monash Art Ensemble is a project of Monash University’s prestigious Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and is fronted by the music masterminds of Daniel Ngukurr Boy Wilfrid and David Yippinni Wildred. They’ll be launching multi-movement suite Nyilipidgi at the Malvern Town Hall on Friday May 19.
The other two album launches include Sharny Russell’s Comes A Time, flaunting the APRA award-winning virtuoso’s wealth of expertise as an educator, writer and musician. Capping off the announcement comes Brenton Foster with his new record The Nature of Light, the follow-up to his 2016 Age Music Victoria Award-nominated jazz masterpiece Two Cities. Foster will be revealing the new piece at Chapel off Chapel Gallery on Saturday May 13.
