Brave New World

Brave New World is a Melbourne-based band that emerged in 1986 with a distinctive sound that blended melodic strong vocals, rock, pop and synth elements. The band was known for their energetic live performances and commercial songs that explored themes of love, identity and social issues. BNW consisted of vocalist and co-songwriter Pete Robinson who had been in multiple Melbourne bands including Stealer & X-ports. Co-writers in Ian Pope Keyboards & Eddie Kovach Guitar, and vocals, came from the Dolls & Zed cars, while Melbourne versatile pro drummer Jean Michel Lemiere & Guy Gregson on bass, vocals, completed a strong professional lineup. Gregson left the band in ‘88 & when new bassist Paul Carswell, joined the band, BNW gained traction. BNW won a radio station prize which included; TV appearance, recording time and airplay, however disappointingly that didn’t come to fruition. The Band signed in late ‘89 with Songs like ‘Paths of Angry Men’, ‘Paint me a Picture’, ‘Wishing Well’ & ‘Ribbons of Steel’ were confident that their likely Album; ‘Angels from The Sun’ would have certainly had success.

Magazines such as Inpress, Pursuit and others picked up on the band and articles were appearing as interest was growing.

Unfortunately the band disbanded in the early 1990s, but reunited in 2021 during the pandemic, to the delight of their loyal following, friends & families. Eddie Kovach had sadly passed away some years back so BNW called on Pete Whalley on guitar, vocals to step in for the new ride while later James Theo has now jumped on board .Their comeback shows were sold out across Melbourne, proving their enduring appeal and relevance.

Brave New World is a band that has evolved with the times, but still retains its original spirit and vision. New tracks such as ‘Danger with The Stranger’ and ‘Sweet Thing’ willl appear on a forth coming EP titled ‘Fortune Favours The Brave’ which hails as a triumph of resilience as well as a testament to their enduring appeal and influence.
