So then, what’s the band name and what do you ‘do’ in the band? I'm Youngy, the guitarist in Destroy She Said. Bearing the terrible clichéd nature of this question, what do you reckon people will say you sound like?AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, The Angels, and Soundgarden, with an original modern twist. It's over the top pub rock! What do you love about making music?Creating something out of... Read More

Tom DeLonge needs no introduction. Forming Angels & Airwaves during Blink 182’s hiatus, they have gone on to reach critical success leading an army of die-hard fans. Combining epic melodies and monstrous arena rock choruses Angels and Airwaves debut album We Don’t Need to Whisper had Kerrang! calling it “bold and brilliant…with some stunning moments of perfection…euphoric”. Dave Gleeson is 43 years old, has enjoyed a long and fruitful musical career, but right now, he feels on top of the world. Speaking to Gleeson from his home in the Adelaide Hills after arriving in at midnight on a flight from Perth, he sounds remarkably chipper and upbeat. And why shouldn't he be? After spending four years singing with Aspect and covering Angels songs, Gleeson now finds himself... Read More

I'm all for artistic freedom and allowing bands to ebb and morph and shrink and flower into whatever mysterious being they want to become. People enjoy placing restrictions on music. On what bands should do and how they should sound. Whenever my favourite bands (somewhat inevitably) dissipate into a sound I no longer like, I usually find it within myself to let them go... So I hear along a grapevine, a twisted, mangled mess of good intentions and miscommunications probably, that a well-known hardcore band who recently employed a new singer, made the dude sign a contractual agreement that insisted that he do so many pit calls and shout outs per live set. First it seemed completely implausible but the more I thought about it, the more likely it seemed. If bands are... Read More

"World class" is a term that springs to mind when listening to the debut album from Melbourne's Black And White. Forming in the demise of Phillip Island prog act The Format, these guys have honed their style into an ultra-slick, electro alternative rock sound that would sit just as comfortably on the airwaves of Triple M as it does played live and loud at a local venue. And this listener simply... Read More
