You’ve just released A Spark In The Dust. Could you tell us about it? It’s about connections in essence, over the years I’ve had many experiences which have enabled me to see that all things are connected, all interactions we have with each other and relationships with elements, spirit, land and animal. The potential we have can be great and I wanted to express that if we act on transcendental ideas they can become powerful realities, hence the name of the track.

What’s your relationship with music been like over the years, and have you always wanted to perform? My relationship with music goes back to my early childhood. I had a pronounced stammer as a child and at the age of six, as part of my speech therapy I was taught to beat out words to rhythm, I’ve been thinking in rhythms for as long I can remember. I feel as though music gave me my voice, to express myself deeply, which has always helped me to keep my ego as the smaller player in my music journey. I was a show pony from birth, performing comes naturally to me and I enjoy the challenge of becoming better with time.

Being a solo musician, do you ever miss the teamwork aspect of playing with other people? Playing solo definitely has its perks; it’s a lot easier to organise myself rather than a whole band. I feel very blessed to be currently jamming with some excellent musicians for the upcoming EP launch. The cosmic dance you do when playing with other musicians who ‘get you’ and the music is always special and that’s what I feel I have.

If you could name a dream lineup of three artists to play a show with, who would they be? My dream lineup for a show would be playing alongside Foy Vance, Pierce Brothers, and Future Islands. Foy’s music really inspires me; he is easily one of the best songwriters in the world at the moment. Jack and Pat Pierce, who are soul brother pals of mine, are always great to be around, they have a unique energy and are hilarious. I’m always looking for new dance moves and tips so who better play a show with than Future Islands? Samuel T Herrings moves are the best.

Could you give us a hint about what we’re likely to experience at the EP launch? Well, the launch will be very lights, camera, action. There are some seriously brilliant souls involved in the evening, ace supports from Davy Simony and Mon Shelford band, a sweet light show and I’ll be showcasing some tracks from the album I’m currently writing as well as an all out uplifting realization of the Being EP with my band. Expect good times and sounds that will make you want to move.
