What do you reckon people will say you sound like? Depends what song you listen to. Some people have said that I sound like if King Krule rapped and jumped around a lot, some people have said Massive Attack crosses Kendrick Lamar, and someone said I sound like a “polyrhythmic clash of life energy.” Personally, I’m trying to create a space where I don’t sound like anyone else.
What do you love about making music? The self-expression, the experimentation, the connection, and the lack of limitation.
What do you hate about the music industry? Like a lot of artists, I’m not super in tune with the things outside of the creative realm of the industry, so all of that other stuff can be tiring. You have to be grateful for the connections and relationships you build in the industry but also be wary of a lot of characters. Stop asking me to play for exposure. All artists: know your worth.
If you could travel back in time and show one of your music heroes your stuff, who would it be? I wouldn’t have to go back in time because Kanye is still alive. All the eclectic musical variety stuff, Kanye’s been doing that. Yeezy taught me.
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise? Nothing yet. I’m an internet baby. Peep, iTunes and Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, YouTube, all of that noise. But physicals will come one day.
