Strawberry Fist Cake

What’s your name then? Oh. And the name of your band…

“My title is Count Mik DeFISTar and I’m the youthful member of Strawberry Fist Cake. I’m also lying…. I’m the old guy. But I am actually a Count.”

And what do you do?

“In my spare time I like to shred the lead-stringed thingy with occasional yelling duties and kazoo play. I also attend to the odd planking duty here and there.”

When did you start doing that?

“Well, the stringed thingy, I started when I was just a wee teenager… but the yelling came naturally when I was spat out of the womb. The kazoo is more recent and the planking has only just begun.”

Why did you start doing that?

“It all happened when I developed a misleading belief that rock ‘n’ roll would make a great career, from there my cranium continued to get twisted and manipulated by historical legends of rock. No doctor can help this disease. The planking I started because it’s absolutely so stupid, I had to give it go.”

Do you think you’re good at doing that?

“I did think I was good at what I did until I met our bass player, Kynt SaFISTed. He plays the damn thing like he plays my mother. Now I’m just another hack musician because Kynt is the talent you’ll want to see in this band!”

If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing?

“Apart from dying a slow painful death, I actually don’t think there is anything I could actually bullshit my way though quite as easy as punk rock.”

What makes you happiest about what you’re doing?

“The correct definition of the word band, ‘A group of people who have a common interest or purpose’. When you find that chemistry, it would make anyone happy…”

And what makes you unhappiest about what you’re doing?

“Did I mention I hate bands?”

What’s you proudest moment of doing what you do?

“Every single moment, if you don’t do anything half-arsed, you’ll never be let down.”

And your least proud?

“My answers to this interview.”

When are you doing your thing next?

We hit the road throughout May and June with Japanese legends The Jet Boys for shows in Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.”
