Steph Tisdell

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival's 2022 Gala will be led by Steph Tisdell on March 23.

The Gala will be supporting Oxfam for the 25th year this year when it returns to Palais Theatre on Wednesday March 23. It will then air on the ABC on Wednesday March 30.

It will be led by one of Australia’s pre-eminent comedy stars, Steph Tisdell, who was due to host the Gala in 2020 before it was cancelled. 2022 will be the first time a solo First Nations comedian has hosted the annual event.

One week later, burgeoning superstar Rhys Nicholson will host the Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow, which will also take place at The Palais. Both nights will feature a strong lineup of the best of the fest, together making up the premier nights of stand-up on the Australian calendar.

The Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow will take place on Wednesday 30 March, and it will air on the ABC from Wednesday 13 April.
