7 Series doesn’t disappoint but it also doesn’t thrill. Featuring the trend du jour, tropical house-style beats and hot collaborators such as Ty Dolla Sign and 2 Chainz, it’s destined to satisfy existing fans and new ears alike.
F With U (Ty Dolla Sign) is slow groove R&B that is tailor-made for radio. Sweet Chin Music follows the same easy-paced rhythm and beat – try to resist nodding your head and tapping your toe while it’s playing. Does either beg for return and replay action? Not for this reviewer – it’s a tad vanilla.
The 2 Chainz collab, Swish, is a vast improvement. The repeated “Swish, swish, swish” chorus will have you involuntarily chanting along.
7 Series, coming in just under 30 minutes total, is Top 40 dance, R&B and hip hop presented in a radio friendly package. It’s distinctly LA-flavoured but safe enough for Bieber fans to get their sticky fingers on. Is it a must have? No. Is it still worth streaming on your walk to work? Most definitely.
