The RSPCA are hoping to raise $65,000 to help care for the animals that enter its shelters. The RSPCA, or the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, is a not for profit organisation that cares for and protects animals, while advocating for the end of cruelty to all animals. With 157 animals available for adoption and 395 shelter animals currently in vet care at the time of writing this article, they provide emergency first aid to abandoned animals, as well as a rehoming service.

Did you know – more than 90% of the RSPCA’s funding comes from generous support of the Victorian community. RSPCA Victoria cares for approximately 14,000 animals a year that have been lost, abandoned or seized. Their Inspectorate, a not-for-profit branch that investigates instances of animal cruelty, costs almost $5 million per year to run.

While you never really need any excuse to throw a party or make some cupcakes, do it for a good cause this August. It can be held at your home, school or work and whenever suits you throughout the month. So what are you waiting for – get cooking!
