Zedtown

Tell us about Zedtown. It’s a four-hour event where Color Run meets Call of Duty in the world of The Walking Dead. In this immersive game of Survivors vs Zombies hundreds of players, armed with only their Nerf blasters, battle to make it to the final stand in a post-apocalypse-themed adventure.

How did Zedtown come about? It was started five years ago by a group of friends as a small event at Sydney Uni arts festival. Since then it’s grown so that the latest event had over a thousand people.

Describe how a player feels walking into Zedtown compared to walking out? Who hasn’t wondered “I wonder how I’d go?” when they watch The Walking Dead? When you go in, your imagination takes you to the post-apocalpyse. You’re afraid of zombies, you’re not sure who’s infected so there’s a paranoia. You might come just wanting to go for a run with some friends, but you end up getting really into it and feeling like you’re better than Bear Grylls. Or, you end up as a zombie with more brains than Einstein.

What’s a Zedtown moment you will never forget? Running away at full speed, not fully appreciating that I’d left my wife behind to fend for herself against a giant horde of zombies chasing us. Later, she tagged me into a zombie harder than is probably intended.

Zedtown is a unique Melbourne experience we should all try because…It’s an unforgettable fun day out with your friends: where else can you work out if you’d survive the zombie apocalypse?
