Playing an instrument almost twice her size, it’s hard to not see why all eyes have been on Tamara Murphy and her band, Murphy’s Law.
In the latter months of 2011, the Victorian double-bassist won the inaugural Young Elder of Jazz Commission in Melbourne. From there, Tamara has not stopped.
Using the hefty $10,000 prize money, Tamara is getting set to present a new work, Big Creatures and Little Creatures: The Modular Suite, which will be broadcasted on 3PBS and performed at the 2012 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
Catch Tamara and her band, Murphy’s Law, as they perform at Bennetts Lane on June 2 as part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
