Signal 37 Revealed

Budding filmmakers, young writers, artists and music enthusiasts will get the chance to learn new skills and collaborate with industry professionals as part of Signal 37, a free summer creative arts program.

An intensive program of workshops, exhibitions and performances, Signal 37 kicks off on Sunday 15January and culminates in an event on January 28 with ten days of art, creativity and inspiration inbetween. Run by the City of Melbourne, Signal is an arts studio dedicated to young people aged 13 to 20.

 

Participants can choose from a variety of workshops including sound design and VJ skills with artistsRobin Fox and Tim Bright, street art mentoring with Blender Studios and Ghost Patrol or visual artportfolio development with Clare McCracken and RMIT. For those wanting to add a bit of bling to their bike, Squeaky Wheel and BikeFest will be running a bike adornment workshop where participants can learn crafty ways to decorate their wheels and light up theroads with colour and movement.

 

Budding filmmakers can take part in a horror film workshop with Undead Melbourne, where they can learn about every aspect of the film making process from production to special effects and finding alocation.Express media will run a creative writing workshop where young people will conceptualise, design,write, edit and produce a special edition of Signal Express.

Signal 37 takes place behind Flinders Street Station on Northbank, in the Les Erdi Plaza,at the northern end of Sandridge Bridge, and at the top of Banana Alley from Sunday January 15 to Saturday January 28.
