MICF News: Applications for RAW Comedy and Class Clowns are now open

Are you a funny human? Here's your chance to show the world what you've got.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is already gearing up for 2018, and now's your chance to get involved.

The annual RAW Competition makes its return, offering an opportunity for the nation's best new performers to test their stand-up skills with five minutes of original material. It's launched the careers of numerous heavy hitters, and is a surefire way to break into the comedy world if you prove successful.

The winner will be laughing all the way to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where they’ll have a chance to compete in So You Think You’re Funny? in August 2018.

Meanwhile, the hunt for Australia's funniest high-school student continues with the return of Class Clowns.

Teens in Years 9-12 (or between the ages of 14-18 years old) can now sign up for free to work alongside some of the festival’s finest comic talent, polishing up their own original five minutes of stand- up, sketch or musical comedy for a real live public performance hosted by a professional comedian during Melbourne International Comedy Festival in April 2018.

Participants will battle it out for the prize of $1,500 for themselves and a $1,000 workshop package for their school.
