When was Stanley Shoes born? In 1967 in Richmond after the immigration of Stanley Neohoritis Snr from Greece in the late ‘50s. He first established Stanley’s in Richmond before moving to Hampton in 1977, which is currently run by his son Manny Neohoritis and wife Janine, his grandson Stanley Neohoritis Jnr and Max the dog.

Tell us about Stanley Shoes. Originally just a humble shoe repair store until evolving into a multifaceted highly specialised bespoke and orthopaedic shoemakers. We also manufacture a leather slipper line named Courthouse slippers, distributed all over Australia.

What is Stanley Shoes most proud of? We’re most proud of a pair of wedding shoes made for Monte Morgan from Client Liaison. They were a pair of customised beige canvas and melon trim loafers. The reaction when he opened the box from him and his now wife was the best validation you could get for your work.

What does it mean to you to be made in Melbourne? Melbourne has a unique style and contributing to its shoe world is a real honour and privilege. The industry has evolved so much in the past 50 years, regarded as a dying art that’s seeing a nice, slow revival.

How does Stanley Shoes foster a sense of community? Stanley Shoes longevity has been strongly supported by the local Bayside community.  We aim to provide a high-quality service that gives new and old customers an experience which in hand helps generate all of our business through word of mouth.
