Melbourne International Comedy Festival to tackle fake news for this year's Great Debate

Stephen K Amos jumps into the adjudicator’s chair for Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s next instalment of the Great Debate.

That You've Gotta Fake News To Make News will be the motivating slant of tongue with Tom Ballard, DeAnne Smith and Andy Zaltzman taking argument’s easy way out on the affirmative side.

Loggerheading from the negative side will be Sammy J, Janelle James and Rhys Nicholson while Mel Buttle will be representing the audience party acting as a special correspondent and pollster from the crowd.

So what will it be? Does click-baiting trash really reign true in today’s society or is all news being pumped out honest and justified?

Find out when the 2017 Great Debate goes down at Melbourne Town Hall on Saturday April 15. The debate will be filmed by ABC TV and broadcast on Monday April 17 at 8.30pm.
