The local exhibition showcasing young Indigenous artists

VACCA are showcasing the work of Aboriginal children mentored in the arts.

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency has opened a new art exhibition in Besser Space Collingwood, for a limited time only. The Culture Matters exhibition showcases the work of young Aboriginal people who have been mentored in the visual arts.

After six months of workshops with the Art Mentoring Project, Emily, Levi, Mya and Rebecca are ready to put their works on display. The girls have been mentored in culture and art by Indigenous artists Maree Clarke, Emma Bamblett and Peter Waples-Crowe.

The work will include paintings, sculpture, and prints that explore the girls’ cultural identity.

The Culture Matters exhibition opens today, November 17 until Saturday November 18 at the Besser Space Collingwood. For more information see vacca.org
