Fitzroy Market

Hi there. Who are you and what do you do for the Fitzroy Market?

My name is Fiona and I am the creator of the Fitzroy Market. I also manage the market.

What speciality wares have you got on offer?

All the 75 stalls at the Fitzroy Market have to be pre-loved or handmade. Plus we have a bit of everything – loads of plants, vinyl, vintage cameras, Turkish towels and food such as Polish dumplings, gourmet pies, bagels, Thai dishes and a sausage sizzle.

Talk us through an average day at The Fitzroy Market. What are a few things we could see or do?

The Fitzroy Market runs from 10am-3pm on the third Saturday of the month. We are a flea-style market so there’s plenty to rummage through. Our favourite thing to hear about is that new prized possession bought from the Fitzroy Market.

What’s your favourite thing about the market’s community?

The Fitzroy Market is known for its good vibes. In the six plus years that the market has been running, it’s had a great reception from not only the local community, but from visitors from far and wide too. We also ask our patrons for a gold coin donation, which then goes to Fitzroy Primary School and refugee support program The Fitzroy Learning Network.

Is there anything entertaining for different age groups e.g. kids, teens, adults?

We have local musicians that perform at the market, and at times we have face-painting for the kids.
