City of Stonnington unveils 'The Classics' concert series

Divided into a three-part series of Opera, Broadway and Symphony, audience members are privy to a fantastic selection for an evening in the sun.

Kicking off the series with Opera on February 4 at Victoria Gardens, renowned artistic director Suzanne Chaundy brings together the likes of some of Australia’s most highly awarded sopranos – Emma Matthews in her Stonnington debut, alongside foremost vocalists Rosamund Illing, Josyln Rechter, Henry Choo, Philip Calcango and Tim Newton.
The following Saturday February 11 at Ardrie Park, Broadway is set to be divulged in the form of four musical theatre stars together with effervescence – Silvie Paladino, Anne Wood, Alinta Chidzey and Melissa Langton will be there as part of the occasion. Georgy Girl director Gary Young is taking charge of the performance.
Capping off the three-part series in the best way possible on February 25, Symphony will feature a special performance from the Stonnington Symphony Orchestra at Malvern Gardens. Conducted by Roy Theaker, the showcase will welcome Lior as a special guest – the dexterous and full-hearted vocalist he is. The final event will be hosted by ABC Classic FM’s Sian Prior.

The City of Stonnington Classics concert series kicks off on February 4 and runs for three Saturdays until February 25.
