Hi there. Who are we speaking to and what do you do for the Belgrave Big Dreams Market?

My name is Dee Appleton and I’m the Founder and Manager of The Big Dreams Market.

Can you tell us about some of the specialty wares you have on offer?

We have a very diverse range of stalls including bespoke timber furniture, handcrafted leather works, amazing jewellery, several art and homewares stalls, handmade leather kids shoes, a huge produce section with organic sourdough and gluten free bread, olives, vegan produce, organic teas and so much more. The market’s focus is on products designed, made or produced by the sellers.

What can you tell us about the community for the Big Dreams Market?

Big Dreams was created as a place for the community to gather and connect with friends new and old, and meet the makers and growers who are living the dream. Shoppers come to grab their weekly fruit and veg from the farmers who grew them, pick up some fresh delicious bread, get some international street food for lunch, and find that perfect present. I love that the market is ever evolving and although we have a large number of regular stallholders, we also have heaps of new stalls every month, which helps to keep things fresh.

Walk us through an average day at the market. What could we eat, see and drink? Where could we go?

There is so much to do at the market from relaxing essential oil treatments, to having your nails done or a spot of henna art. The kids have a ball with face painting and bouncy castle and the really cool fairy caravan, and there is a playground on-site which is always a huge hit. We provide colouring books for the littlies too. Franklin, the vintage coffee van, make an ace coffee or delicious chai, Tony makes great bread which you can eat with Sarah’s yummy jam, Paul’s honey or Haroula’s olives. Listen to some music, check out some unique stores, stuff your face with organic pizza or other great street food. You’ll be sad to leave, but oh so glad you came.
