Bec Melrose crowned winner of RAW Comedy 2018

Meet the next big thing in Australian comedy.

Bec Melrose from New South Wales has joined RAW Comedy champions, winning the grand-final of 2018’s competition.

She won over judges with her jokes about footy lads in Europe and a VR sex machine.

According to RAW Comedy Producer and Associate Director of MICF Gideon James, this year’s finalists were “bright, exciting and on the pulse of what is making Australia laugh. All on stage demonstrated skill, stamina and a truck-load of bravery performing in front of 800 people. It is always exciting to see what comes next, and to say you were there from the beginning.”

RAW Comedy has kick-started careers for comedians such as Tom Ballard, Hannah Gadsby, Josh Thomas, Celia Pacquola and Luke McGregor.

The RAW Comedy National Grand Final will be televised on SBS later this year.
