'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' movie set for Halloween release

Revisit the spookiest TV show of your childhood on the big screen.

Nostalgia for throwback horror is at an all-time high, and the cinematic release of the Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie is no exception.

Due for release on Halloween, 2019, the re-boot will follow on from the show's original format - exploring the campfire tales of a group of teens called the Midnight Society.

Believe me, this shit was scary AF as a kid.

What's more, the modern adaptation will be helmed by IT co-writer Garry Dauberman, who worked on the script for this year's hit film.

“The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones," said Dauberman to The Hollywood Reporter. "We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honour the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves."

And just in case you've forgotten, Ryan Gosling was on Are You Afraid. Here's hoping he returns in some way or another with some spooky stories in tow for the forthcoming film.
