NGV Triennial Extra

The work of more than 100 internationally renowned artists comes together in this blockbuster exhibition, housed within a mini festival that'll be taking over the NGV. Food, drinks, bars, music and DJ sets curated from some of Melbourne's finest will all be there. Friday January 19 - Sunday January 28.

The Sound of Falling Stars 

With tracks from Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Bobby Darin, Tim and Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Bon Scott, Kurt Cobain and more, The Sound of Falling Stars celebrates musical joys and colossal losses, presenting extraordinary talents of those who lived fast and died young.The Sound of Falling Stars is on at Arts Centre’s Playhouse from Wednesday February 28 until Saturday March 3.  

Arts House Season 1 Programme

Arts House is starting the year with a program of brave, risky and vivacious works to entertain and challenge Melbourne. The state capital is known as one of the world’s greatest creative cities and the Arts House is a vital part of the creative community. Jeff Mills teams up with NASA for a six-part radio series

The Outer Limits is comprised of six hour-long episodes exploring astrophysics and science fiction through abstract soundscapes and spoken word, all featuring original new and unreleased music from electronic kingpin Jeff Mills alongside guest musicians. In fact, each episode features enough original music to comprise an album in its own right.  

The Art of Star Wars

Star Wars fever has been sweeping the globe since the release of the latest film, and Melbourne is set to tap into the force with the opening of an exclusive exhibition featuring concept art and illustrations that bring the galaxy to life. The art showcased depicts iconic moments from the films, bringing countless well-loved moments and characters to the canvas. Expect Chewie, Yoda, and, all the other puppets. Check it out over at Silver K Gallery until January 31. 

Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Yep, it's that time of year again. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival has unveiled their first round of shows, with highlights including the ever-popular International Comedy Showcase, US smorgasbord Headliners, the Comedy All Stars Show and of course – the Great Debate. The 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival goes down from March 28 - April 22.

Alice and Wonderland

Expectations will be defied and curiosity will be rewarded in the world premiere Wonderland exhibition heading to ACMI in 2018, celebrating the cinematic history of Lewis Caroll. The worlds of Alice's Adventures in WonderlandThrough the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There will come to life in an entirely original and interactive experience.
