Double, Double Toil And Trouble For The Australian Shakespeare Company

Over Summer, the Australian Shakespeare Company had audiences laughing with their season of The Comedy of Errors in Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens. They raised eyebrows with their confrontational and nudity-filled run of Lady Chatterley's Lover in the Rippon Lea House and Gardens.

Now they are changing their tone with a new production of the classic tragedy Macbeth. One again avoiding a traditional theatre space, the Australian Shakespeare Company's version of Macbeth will adopt a promenade-style, interactive production that is set over a number of installations inside the Dockland's Shed 4. Directed by Glenn Elston, the show is set to give audiences a more physical experience of Macbeth, providing a fresh twist on Shakespeare's commonly performed play. Audiences can expect to be transported to the witches' heath, or to Macbeth's courtyard and for those into audience participation, you could be recruited to bring in the trees from Birnam Wood.

The Australian Shakespeare Company's production of Macbeth will run between May 11 and 28 at Shed 4 on Victoria Harbour, Docklands. You can book online via the Company's site or on Ticketmaster.
