The Toff Mambo is bringing free salsa classes and Latin vinyl sessions to Melbourne's CBD from 1 July.
Presented by Dando Mambo, The Toff Mambo kicks off at The Toff on Swanston Street from 7pm, starting with a free all-levels salsa class before the floor opens for social dancing. The series runs throughout July with spots for each class limited and available via RSVP, welcoming complete beginners and seasoned dancers to the same floor. If the crowds show up, organisers plan to lock it in as a permanent fixture.
Once classes wrap, a rotation of vinyl DJs takes the reins for social dancing until late.

Gabss, Eddy Milfort, Zafiro, Danny Man, Randy Castilla and Iza DJ will each spin curated sets pulling from New York salsa, boogaloo, mambo, Cuban son, cha cha chá and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. The bar is also rolling out South American drink specials for the occasion, with $20 passionfruit and watermelon mojitos, $12 Pis-Colas and $10 Aguardiente Antioqueña shots on the menu. For the launch on 1 July, the first 20 through the door also cop a free shot.
The concept goes beyond just dance lessons and DJ sets. Dando Mambo are carving out a dedicated space for Melbourne’s Latin music and social dancing community right in the heart of the city. With vinyl-only selections, an open dance floor and a no-experience-necessary approach, it’s a low-pressure entry point for anyone curious about salsa and its surrounding genres.
