There’s a free two-day winter market and projection light show coming to East Brunswick

East Brunswick Village
words by staff writer

East Brunswick Village is marking the winter solstice with a two-day celebration spanning 20 and 21 June, kicking off with projection art, live music and special menus.

The inaugural Winter Solstice event at East Brunswick Village will transform Bluestone Way into an after-dark visual experience on the evening of 20 June from 6pm, with geometric shapes, fire graphics and colour projected across the precinct’s walls.

Resident venues Bridge Road Brewers, Hagen’s, Rumi, Dodam, FoMo Cinemas and Siconi Gelato have each created one-off menu items for the occasion, while Music in Exile, DJs Yus.f & Sheidita, and live performer Ashkan Shafiei will keep the energy going throughout the night.

The food offerings are a genuine highlight of the East Brunswick Village Winter Solstice Eve.

Bridge Road Brewers are firing up a charcoal pit to roast High Country chestnuts, best paired with one of their dark beers.

Hagen’s Organics is serving their sausage of the month, a Boerewors with spicy tomato relish, BBQ onions and Mrs Balls chutney in a soft white roll.

Rumi chefs are putting together a thick Harira soup with lamb, chickpeas and tomatoes served alongside chargrilled flatbread, while Dodam brings two varieties of bungeo-ppang (those iconic fish-shaped Korean winter street snacks filled with red bean and custard), plus a warming walnut and almond tea called Yulmu-cha.

FoMo Cinemas are doing a Moonlight Cocoa, a rich hot chocolate loaded with marshmallows, whipped cream and chocolate syrup, and Siconi Gelato will be giving out free dog-friendly scoops for any four-legged guests who make the trip.

The celebrations wrap up on 21 June with a Winter Sunday Market running from 10am to 3pm, featuring makers of knitted and woollen goods among a wider mix of stalls.
